Okapis are shy even-toed ungulates, which are distinguished by their characteristic coloration and are also known as "forest giraffes". Their habitat is limited to the Central African rainforest in the Congo. With a population of only 10,000 - 35,000 animals, the okapi is considered a highly endangered species.
