### Captain Cook - Antarctic Adventure - 250 Years 1 Oz Gold - Proof - in Color - Motive in Color - 99.99% pure Gold - Limited Mintage only 99 pieces - With numbered Certificate of Authenticity - Delivery in original Box The **gold coin** in color celebrates the **250th anniversary** of the second and first official **voyage of discovery by James Cook**. The captain and his crew were commissioned in 1772 by the British government to find the mysterious continent to the south, whose existence was already suspected by Aristotle. Under the command of James Cook, the two ships "Resolution" and "Discovery" crossed the southern polar circle for the first time on January 17, 1773 - however, the hoped-for sight of the mysterious continent south of the Cape of Good Hope was denied them, so that James Cook doubted the existence of the South Pole, which was discovered only 50 years later. Cook was nevertheless celebrated like a hero and personally honored by King George III upon his return. The motive of the coin struck from one ounce of 99.99% pure gold features a colorful depiction of the Southern Arctic Ocean and a detailed image of one of the ships. The inscription "CAPTAIN COOK CROSSES THE ANTARCTIC CIRCLE" and the year "1773" are also included in the design. The reverse presents the official coat of arms of Niue as well as the weight, fineness, denomination and year of issue. Strictly limited to only 99 pieces worldwide, the gold proof coin celebrating the **250th anniversary of the second voyage of discovery of James Cook** is delivered in the original box including a numbered certificate of authenticity.
