### Aviation and History - Spirit of St. Louis (1.) 50 Euro - 1/4 Oz Gold - Proof - 1st Issue of the series "Aviation and History" - Strictly limited Mintage only 500 pieces - With Certificate of Authenticity - Delivery in original Box This gold coin from **France**[](https://www.emk.com/en-us/euro/france/)commemorates the **90th anniversary of the first transatlantic flight from New York to Paris**. The **Spirit of St. Louis** (Ryan NYP) is the long-haul aircraft with which Charles Lindbergh crossed the Atlantic on May 20th, 1927. The motive of the commemorative coin features the Spirit of St. Louis flying over Paris. In the background the Statue of Liberty, the starting point of the great crossing, is depicted. The coin design was developed in collaboration with Romain Hugault, the famous comic designer. It is the first issue in the new series "**Aviation and History**" dedicated to great aircraft and their adventures. The motive of the reverse is always the same and shows two pilots, symbolizing military and civil activity, as well as outlines of various types of aircraft. The inscription "L'AVIATION & L'HISTOIRE" (engl.: "Aviation and History") is also included in the design. The limited **1/4 Oz commemorative gold coin** from France is delivered in the original box including a certificate of authenticity.
