### Celebrated Physicians of Austria (4.) - Clemens von Pirquet 50 Euro - 10 Gram Gold - Proof - 4th and final Issue of the "Celebrated Physicians of Austria" Series - Mintage 50,000 pieces - With Certificate of Authenticity - Delivery in original Box The fourth and final issue of the four-part series "**Celebrated Physicians of Austria**" is dedicated to **Clemens von Pirquet**. Clemens von Pirquet (1874-1929) was an Austrian pediatrician and immunologist who contributed significantly to the development of allergy research. He shaped the term "allergy" to describe the body's altered reaction to a substance to which it had previously been exposed. He even developed a method for the early diagnosis of tuberculosis with the Pirquet sample, named after him. The design of the gold coin features a portrait of the famous doctor along with the staff of Asclepius. The design is surrounded by the inscriptions "REPUBLIK ÖSTERREICH", "CLEMENS VON PIRQUET", "2010" and "50 EURO". The reverse depicts the Vienna University Children's Hospital, a nurse behind a child lying in a hospital bed, and Pirquet behind a microscope. This fascinating **[Euro gold coin](https://www.emk.com/en-us/euro/gold-coins/ "Euro Gold Coin")** is delivered in the original box from the **[Austrian Mint](https://www.emk.com/en-us/euro/austria/ "Austrian Euro coins")** including a certificate of authenticity.
