The Austrian Imperial Crown was the insignia of the Holy Roman Emperor from the House of Habsburg. Originally created between the 10th and 11th centuries, it served the Habsburgs from Maximilian the First until the end of the Holy Roman Empire in 1806. Today, the crown is kept in the Vienna Treasury. The motive of the gold coin presents the imposing crown on an ermine collar surrounded by the inscriptions "REPUBLIK ÖSTERREICH", "DIE ÖSTERREICHISCHE KAISERKRONE", "2012" and "100 EURO". The reverse shows Emperor Franz Joseph the First with the imperial staff in his hand. Also included in the design are the Imperial Crown and the imperial coat of arms, consisting of the double-headed eagle.
