Since then, more than 400 million coins were created in Sydney. To build on its success, in 2018 the first Double Sovereign of the Perth Mint was struck from 91.70% gold. The commemorative motive shows the St Edward’s crown, a laurel wreath and the words 'AUSTRALIA' and 'DOUBLE SOUVEREIGN'. The obverse of the $ 50 gold coin depicts the Ian Rank Broadley portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, the currency denomination, and the year 2018. The Australian Double Sovereign is limited to 500 pieces and comes in a noble wooden box including a numbered certificate.
