### Australian Nugget - 40th Anniversary 1 Oz Gold - Proof - 99.99% pure Gold - Limited Mintage only 200 pieces - With Certificate of Authenticity - Delivery in original Box The **gold coin in proof quality** was issued by the renowned **Perth Mint** to mark the **40th anniversary of the Australian Nugget Program**. Struck from **one ounce of 99.99% pure gold**, this issue pays tribute to one of Australia’s most famous coin programs. The design depicts the legendary **Welcome Stranger**, the largest gold nugget ever found and documented. It was discovered in February 1869 in Moliagul in the Australian state of Victoria by John Deason and Richard Oates. With a weight of 2,284 ounces, the nugget was so large that it had to be broken into several pieces before it could be weighed. The nugget is surrounded by a line illustration of the map of Australia and encircled by a ring of stylized sun rays. Also integrated into the design are the inscription “THE AUSTRALIAN NUGGET”, the name of the nugget, the mint mark “P40”, the weight, the fineness and the year of issue. The reverse shows the portrait of **King Charles III**, designed by Dan Thorne, together with the inscription “AUSTRALIA” and the denomination. The **1 oz gold proof coin for the 40th anniversary of the Australian Nugget** is limited to only 200 pieces worldwide and is delivered in the original box including a certificate of authenticity.
