1999 [Gibraltar](file:///buy-coins/gibraltar/) £2 coin depicting the Stymphalian Birds - the sixth coin in the popular [Labours of Hercules](file:///buy-coins/circulated/1997-2000-hercules-2-gibraltar-set/) series, struck between 1997 and 2000. Driving away the Stymphalian Birds was Hercules' sixth labour. These man-eating birds had overrun Lake Stymphalia in Arcadia. Hercules used a bronze rattle gifted by the goddess Athena to startle them into flight, before bringing them down with his bow and arrows. - [The Pobjoy Mint](file:///buy-coins/pobjoy-mint/) struck these coins for Gibraltar, hence the 'PM' mint mark on the reverse - [Ian Rank-Broadley](file:///blog/ian-rank-broadley/)'s portrait of [Queen Elizabeth II](file:///buy-coins/elizabeth-ii/) is shown on the obverse of these 1999 coins - These bi-metallic, base metal [Two Pound](file:///buy-coins/2-two-pounds/) coins may display signs of wear and handling
