Stories of the Second World War commemorative brilliant uncirculated 50p coin from The Royal Mint developed with assistance from the Imperial War Museum. This is a tribute to the soldiers, sailors and airmen whose bravery and fortitude brought about victory over Nazi Germany and its Axis allies. Released to mark 80 years since the end of World War Two, this UK coin represents individual stories of heroism with a poignant design created by celebrated coinage artist Timothy Noad. It shows three military medals worn by a dwindling number of surviving veterans: the 1939-45 Star, the Defence Medal and the War Medal 1939–1945. As World War Two passes from living memory, this official collector's coin is a timely reminder of the cost of war.
