Victoria Jubilee Head Sovereign (1887-1893)
Description Victoria Jubilee Head Sovereign coins were produced between 1887 and 1893 to celebrate Queen Victoria’s Golden Jubilee. As part of the celebrations, the Royal Mint revived Benedetto Pistrucci’s earlier design of St. George and the Dragon. The St. George design did not grace the half Sovereign until 1893. Victoria Jubilee Head Sovereign coins are minted in 22ct gold and have been so since the original “modern” design was issued in 1817. These coins benefit from being Capital Gains Tax (CGT) free. All UK gold and silver bullion coins manufactured by the Royal Mint are legal tender and are exempt from Capital Gains Tax.
