Sweden 20 Kronor
Description Sweden 20 Kronor gold coins were minted between 1877 and 1899, production of Oskar II Swedish Kronors stopped in 1902. King Oskar II was the King of Norway from 1872-1905 and Sweden until 1907. The reverse of the Sweden 20 Kronor coin features the Swedish Royal Coat of Arms and the King’s motto, Brödrafolkens väl (The Welfare of the Brother Peoples). The obverse features one of two younger portraits of Oskar, the year of mintage and the inscription ‘OSCAR II SVERIGES OCH NORGES KONUNG’ which in English reads ‘Oscar II – Sweden and Norway’s King’. In comparison to British coin mintages, the Kronor had a small mintage of 12 million.
