Slabbed Proof Gold Five Ounce – 65th Anniversary of the Coronation of Her Majesty The Queen
Description This slabbed proof gold five ounce coin **PF69** **ULTRA CAMEO**, dated 2018, marks the Sapphire Anniversary of the Coronation of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. There was a grading system from the 1940s that ascribed a number between 1 and 70 to each coin (70 being mint condition). Dr William Sheldon’s scale worked on the basis that a coin graded at 70 would be valued at 70 times more than the value of a coin graded at 1. This scale forms the basis of the grading system today. **PF** denotes Proof coins. **ULTRA CAMEO** means that the fields are deeply mirrored and the devices are heavily frosted for bold contrast on both sides of the coin. Elizabeth II acceded to the throne in 1952 and was crowned on 2 June 1953, bringing the world together in celebration. Huge crowds lined the streets of London to watch the procession of coaches escorting the royals and the Queen to Westminster Abbey. Millions of people around the world tuned in to the ancient ceremony, as it was the first Coronation to be televised. Her Majesty was committed to serving the British people and the commonwealth and was the longest-reigning monarch. Marking the 65th Anniversary of her coronation, the reverse of the coin features The Queen crowned and seated with orb and sceptre. She is represented as regal and celebrated. Westminster Abbey was also incorporated, using the ceiling with the threads of the ribbed, gothic vaulting extending out to the edges from the centre of the coin. The obverse of the coin features Jody Clark’s portrait of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. This has a maximum coin mintage of 85. The coin is slabbed, but also has the original Royal Mint boxes, certificate of authenticity and informative booklet. These coins benefit from being Capital Gains Tax (CGT) free.
