Slabbed One Ounce Gold Queen’s Beast Greyhound 2021 (MS63)
Description Slabbed One Ounce Gold Queen’s Beast Greyhound (MS63) dated 2021. There was a grading system from the 1940s that ascribed a number between 1 and 70 to each coin (70 being mint condition). Dr William Sheldon’s scale worked on the basis that a coin graded at 70 would be valued at 70 times more than the value of a coin graded at 1. This scale forms the basis of the grading system today. **MS** stands for Mint State, a term used to indicate that the coins are the same issue as circulated coins, but in good enough condition to fall between 60 and 70 on the Sheldon scale. The coins are slabbed to maintain the condition in a protective case. The slabbed Greyhound makes up one of ten designs in the Royal Mints’ Queen’s Beast bullion range. This range celebrates the reign of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, celebrating her becoming our longest reigning Monarch in 2015. The coins feature the ten heraldic beasts that stood guard at Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation. The Greyhound of Richmond captures the greyhound’s power and elegance and is a fitting finale for this very popular series. The red rose of Lancaster and the white rose of York (The Tudor rose) is a symbol of how Henry VII united the two factions. The greyhound itself is a symbol of honour.
