Slabbed One Ounce Gold Krugerrand 1969 (PF66 CAMEO)
Description Slabbed One Ounce Gold Krugerrand (PF66) dated 1969. There was a grading system from the 1940s that ascribed a number between 1 and 70 to each coin (70 being mint condition). Dr William Sheldon’s scale worked on the basis that a coin graded at 70 would be valued at 70 times more than the value of a coin graded at 1. This scale forms the basis of the grading system today. **PF** denotes Proof coins. **CAMEO** means that the devices are frosted on both sides of the coins for moderate contrast and the fields are deeply mirrored. The coins are slabbed to maintain the condition in a protective case. The South African Gold Krugerrand was first produced in 1967 by the South African Chamber of Mines, most of them were minted during the 1970s and the 1980s. 1969 was a lower mintage year for proof, with just 10,000 minted.
