Slabbed One Ounce Gold High Relief Year of the Goat (PR70DCAM)
Description Slabbed One Ounce Gold Year of the Goat, dated 2015, is part of the Australian Lunar Gold Series II and is a celebration of the the Chinese Lunar Calendar. The coin is high relief, which means that the obverse and reverse are minted on a rounded, inward surface, to ensure the optimum flow of metal is achieved by the strike of the die. Essentially the image looks raised and therefore looks more detailed. People born under the Year of the Goat are said to be gifted, calm, charming and artistic. The reverse of the coin features a male goat in the mountains, the traditional ‘P’ mintmark for the Perth Mint and the Chinese character for goat. The obverse of the coin features Ian Rank-Broadley’s portrait of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. There was a grading system from the 1940s that ascribed a number between 1 and 70 to each coin (70 being mint condition). Dr William Sheldon’s scale worked on the basis that a coin graded at 70 would be valued at 70 times more than the value of a coin graded at 1. This scale forms the basis of the grading system today. **PR** denotes Proof coins. **DCAM** stands for Deep Cameo, where proof coins display even frosting on both sides of the coin. Certificate of authenticity is also provided. All of our slabbed and graded coins are verified for authenticity by our experienced team.
