Slabbed Five Ounce Silver – The Three Graces (PF69 ULTRA CAMEO)
Description This slabbed five ounce silver coin (PF69 ULTRA CAMEO), is dated 2020 and celebrates a remastered design of The Three Graces. This is the second coin in ‘The Great Engravers’ collection by the Royal Mint. There was a grading system from the 1940s that ascribed a number between 1 and 70 to each coin (70 being mint condition). Dr William Sheldon’s scale worked on the basis that a coin graded at 70 would be valued at 70 times more than the value of a coin graded at 1. This scale forms the basis of the grading system today. **PF** denotes Proof coins. **ULTRA CAMEO** means that the fields are deeply mirrored and the devices are heavily frosted for bold contrast on both sides of the coin. In Greek mythology, the Three Graces are daughters of Zeus and are described as having the ability to bestow qualities upon mortals, such as mirth, elegance and beauty. The daughters were used as figures to represent England, Scotland and Ireland, which is depicted on the obverse of the coin, representing the equality of the nations. The obverse of the coin features the portrait of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The coin is slabbed, but also has the original Royal Mint boxes, certificate of authenticity and informative booklet. These coins benefit from being Capital Gains Tax (CGT) free. All UK gold and silver bullion coins manufactured by the Royal Mint are legal tender and are exempt from Capital Gains Tax.
