Slabbed 50 Euro – 2002 France Europa (PF69 ULTRA CAMEO)
Description Slabbed 50 Euro – France Europa (PF69 ULTRA CAMEO) dated 2002. There was a grading system from the 1940s that ascribed a number between 1 and 70 to each coin (70 being mint condition). Dr William Sheldon’s scale worked on the basis that a coin graded at 70 would be valued at 70 times more than the value of a coin graded at 1. This scale forms the basis of the grading system today. **PF** denotes Proof coins. **ULTRA CAMEO** means that the fields are deeply mirrored and the devices are heavily frosted for bold contrast on both sides of the coin. The coins are slabbed to maintain the condition in a protective case. The obverse of the coin features eight French euro coin designs along with countries in the euro zone: ITALIA, LUXEMBOURG, IRELAND, NEDERLAND, ÖSTERREICH, PORTUGAL, SUOMI, BELGIQUE/BELGIE, DEUTSCHLAND, ESPAÑA, FRANCE and HELLAS. The reverse of the Europa coin features the portrait of the goddess Europe with stars in her hair. Above her is an arch of “€” representing 12 monetary acronyms and to the left and below her portrait are European flags.
