Description Queen’s Beast Two Ounce Silver Dragon of Wales were made in 2017 and was the third of ten designs in the Royal Mints: Queen’s Beast bullion range. This range is in recognition of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, when she surpassed Queen Victoria as the longest reigning Monarch on the 9th September 2015. These will feature the ten heraldic beasts that stood guard at Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation. The original casts are now held in the Canadian Museum of History in Quebec. This particular Queen’s Beast is the emblematic Celtic dragon – the Red Dragon of Cadwallader which is the very familiar emblem of Wales. The Welsh dragon first featured on the Royal Arms in the sixteenth century. Queen’s Beast Two Ounce Silver Dragon coins are pure silver and have a weight of 62.2g.
