Queen’s Beast Ten Ounce Silver Yale
Description Queen’s Beast Ten Ounce Silver Yale of Beaufort is dated 2020 and was the seventh of ten designs in the Royal Mints: Queen’s Beast bullion range. This range is in recognition of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, when she surpassed Queen Victoria as the longest reigning Monarch on the 9th September 2015. These will feature the ten heraldic beasts that stood guard at Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation. The original casts are now held in the Canadian Museum of History in Quebec. The Yale was a mythical beast, found in European mythology, it was supposedly white and covered with gold spots and had characteristics of an antelope or goat. It is the size of the horse and able so swivel each of its horns independently. The imagery was a symbol of Lady Margaret Beaufort, which then was inherited by her son Henry VII, which was later adapted to a portcullis.
