The coins each depict one of the The Heraldic Beasts, reimagined by Royal Mint Coin Designer Jody Clark. His bold interpretation of the Lion of England was the first in the series to be released. This was followed by the Griffin, which was engraved on Edward III’s private seal. The mythical beast of the Griffin was believed to signify courage, strength, guardianship and vigilance, among other qualities. This coin features the badge of the House of Windsor.
