Quarter Ounce Gold Queen’s Beast Falcon 2019
Description Quarter Ounce Gold Queen’s Beast Falcon of the Plantagenets were made in 2019 and was the sixth of ten designs in the Royal Mints: Queen’s Beast bullion range. This range is in recognition of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, when she surpassed Queen Victoria as the longest reigning Monarch on the 9th September 2015. These will feature the ten heraldic beasts that stood guard at Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation. The original casts are now held in the Canadian Museum of History in Quebec. The Falcon symbolises single-minded determination and was chosen by the Plantagenet King Edward III, this was to embody his love of hawking, it was then used as the Royal Badge of his grandson Richard II. The falcon sits upon a golden fetterlock, which is open slightly, this is to symbolise Edward’s claim to the throne. In later times, the House of York and Lancaster were unified by Henry VII, which lead to the Falcon being adopted by him. The Falcon became an established royal best by the reign of Elizabeth, which is also said to be her favourite badge. These coins benefit from being Capital Gains Tax (CGT) Free and VAT free.
