Description Quarter Ounce Gold Queen’s Beast Black Bull 2018 was the fifth of ten designs in the Royal Mints: Queen’s Beast bullion range. This range is in recognition of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, when she surpassed Queen Victoria as the longest reigning Monarch on the 9th September 2015. These will feature the ten heraldic beasts that stood guard at Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation. The original casts are now held in the Canadian Museum of History in Quebec. The Black Bull is associated with the rise of the House of York, it is a symbol of power and might. The quarter ounce gold Queen’s Beast Black Bull was designed by Jody Clark; the reverse features the design of the Black Bull of Clarence (descended to the Queen through Edward VI) while the Obverse features Clark’s portrait of the Queen, along with the coins £25 denomination and is minted in fine gold (0.999).
