Proof Gold Three Coin Sovereign Set 2003
Description This Proof Gold Three Coin Sovereign Set, dated 2003, consists of a Double Sovereign (£2), full sovereign and a half sovereign. The £2 coin celebrates the 50th Anniversary of the Double Helix Discovery by Francis Crick and James Watson. DNA has proved vital in many fields of scientific investigations. The reverse of the coin depicts a celebration of the discovery of the DNA molecule. In 1817 as part of a reform of coinage, the modern sovereign was introduced, with Benedetto Pistrucci’s classic portrayal of St. George slaying the dragon, this is featured on the reverse of both the full and half sovereign. The shared obverse features Ian Rank-Broadley’s portrait of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The coins come in a plastic capsule, along with original Royal Mint box and combined certificate of authenticity and informative booklet. This set has a mintage limit of 2,500. These coins benefit from being Capital Gains Tax (CGT) free. All UK gold and silver bullion coins manufactured by the Royal Mint are legal tender and are exempt from Capital Gains Tax.
