Proof Gold Sovereign 2002
Description This proof 2002 gold sovereign, features a shield design to mark the special celebration of the Queen’s Golden Jubilee. This was only the second time that the design was not the iconic St. George and Dragon. The first time being 1989, which was the 500th anniversary of the first gold sovereign issued. The reverse of the coin features Timothy Noad’s crowned shield of the Royal Arms enclosed within a wreath of laurel. This design has previously featured on the Young Head Victoria Sovereigns. The obverse of the coin features Ian Rank-Broadley’s portrait of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. This 2002 proof gold sovereign comes in a plastic capsule, with original Royal Mint boxes and certificate of authenticity. These coins benefit from being Capital Gains Tax (CGT) free.
