Description This proof gold quarter ounce coin, dated 2021, marks the 50th Anniversary of Mr. Men, with a design featuring Little Miss Sunshine. Mr. Men and Little Miss books were created by Roger Hargreaves, who was inspired by his children and the impossible questions they asked. The first character, Mr Tickle, was created in 1971 after his son asked what a tickle looked like. Even after selling more than 1 million copies within the first three years, he continued reading to them every night and pleasing them with his characterisations. Roger’s twin daughters encouraged him to create female characters, sparking the idea of Little Miss. Roger sadly passed away in 1988, the family decided that they would keep his vision alive and his son Adam took the reigns. The reverse of the coin is designed by Adam Hargreaves, featuring Little Miss Sunshine, who is known for being full of joy and laughter. The obverse of the coin features Jody Clark’s portrait of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The coin comes in a plastic capsule, along with original Royal Mint boxes, certificate of authenticity and informative booklet.
