Proof Gold Piedfort Sovereign 2022
Description This proof gold piedfort sovereign, dated 2022, has a change of design to celebrate Her Late Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee. ‘Piedfort’ sovereigns are twice the weight of a traditional, standard sovereign. 70 years on from her accession to the throne in 1952, the Royal Mint have issued a Royal Coat of Arms design instead of the classic St. George and Dragon design which features on the majority of sovereigns. Previous “limited edition” designs of the classic Sovereign are always popular. The obverse of the 2022 proof gold coin features Jody Clark’s portrait of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, which was the last sovereign she featured on. The coin comes in a plastic capsule, along with original Royal Mint boxes and certificate of authenticity, along with an informative booklet. These coins benefit from being Capital Gains Tax (CGT) free. All UK gold and silver bullion coins manufactured by the Royal Mint are legal tender and are exempt from Capital Gains Tax.
