Proof Gold Piedfort Sovereign 2018
Description This Proof Gold Piedfort Sovereign is dated 2018. ‘Piedfort’ sovereigns are twice the weight of a traditional, standard sovereign. In 1817 as part of a reform of coinage, the modern sovereign was introduced, with Benedetto Pistrucci’s classic portrayal of St. George slaying the dragon. The initials ‘BP’ can be found on the base under the hoof of the horse. The reverse also features a sapphire coronation anniversary mint mark. The obverse of the coin features Jody Clark’s portrait of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. This 2018 piedfort sovereign comes in a plastic capsule with original Royal Mint boxes, certificate of authenticity and informative booklet. These coins benefit from being Capital Gains Tax (CGT) free. All UK gold and silver bullion coins manufactured by the Royal Mint are legal tender and are exempt from Capital Gains Tax.
