Description This Proof Gold Four Coin Sovereign Set, dated 2003, is made up of a Quintuple sovereign (£5), Double sovereign (£2), full sovereign and half sovereign. In 1817 as part of a reform of coinage, the modern sovereign was introduced, with Benedetto Pistrucci’s classic portrayal of St. George slaying the dragon. The initials ‘BP’ can be found on the base under the hoof of the horse. The obverse of the coins in this 2003 four coin collection, feature Ian Rank-Broadley’s portrait of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Each coin is struck in 22carat gold to the finest proof quality. Each coin comes in a plastic capsule, along with original Royal Mint box and certificate of aunthencity.
