Description This proof gold 5 coin set, dated 2019, consists of individual coins weighing 30g, 15g, 8g, 3g and 1g. Panda coins were originally made in one ounce and smaller denominations. In 2016 the coins were replaced into grams, when China adopted the metric system. The Panda was first issued in 1982 and has been released each year since with a new design of the Panda and the Temple of Heaven in Beijing on the reverse of the coin, with the relevant year of issue. In Chinese culture, the Panda is a symbol of luck and peace and is seen as a spirit animal that brings power and gentleness. The 2019 design features a mother Panda with her baby.
