1825 Gold Sovereign George IV Laureate Head Very Rare
One of the earliest issues of the modern Sovereign, this is now a scarce coin. This 1822 George IV Sovereign features the laureate head portrait of George IV by Benedetto Pistrucci on the Obverse. The reverse has the traditional George and the Dragon design also by Pistrucci. Two busts of George the Fourth were produced, the 'Laureate Head' from 1821 to 1825, and the 'Bare Head' from 1825 to 1830. As you will see from the availability on our site and elsewhere the vast majority of 1825 sovereigns feature the Bare Head bust, making this coin exceeding rare and an exciting find for investors. **Obverse** GEORGIUS IIII D:G BRITANNIARUM REX F:D. **Reverse** The classic George and the Dragon design.
