BullionByPost is proud to offer numismatic collectors a growing range of rare collectable coins, including this gold Sovereign from 1820, in fine condition. George III, the first sovereign of the modern era, first struck in 1817 has formed the basis of all sovereigns to the current issues. Now very scarce. 1820 coin features the laureate head portrait of George III by Pistrucci on the Obverse. The Reverse has the George Dragon design by Pistrucci. Text reads "GEORGIUS III D:G" , "BRITANNIAR:REX F:D" "HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE". Versions of this coin with the year printed in a smaller font or with a smaller "0" for the year are rarer and attract a premium.
