1902 Perth Sovereign PCGS MS63
The 1902-P sovereign has long been considered one of the key dates to the Edward VII sovereign series, and Perth mint sovereign series generally. Despite its inexplicably high population, the coin is scarce and hard to find, especially in grades better than PCGS MS62. Unlike later Perth Mint Edward VII sovereigns, the 1902-P sovereign is generally well-struck and pleasing in appearance, but it often lacks the full bloom and clean fields that Sydney sovereigns often exhibit. The coin photographed above is above average and scarce in this grade, and a good candidate for a sovereign type set or date run. Professional Coin Grading Service is the global leader in coin authentication and grading. With over 60 million coins graded and counting, PCGS is trusted by collectors, dealers, and investors to certify authenticity, protect value, and elevate market confidence. This is a direct conversion of the 70-point PCGS grade to a 10-point scale, intended to present the grade in a more intuitive format for newer collectors. It is not our personal opinion or an attempt at regrading the coin to a different standard.
