The first [Britannias](file:///collections/2023-britannias/): 1987 two-coin gold proof Britannia set from [The Royal Mint](file:///buy-coins/the-royal-mint/) - some of the earliest issues in the long-running series. This fractional set contains a 1/4oz Britannia and a 1/10oz Britannia, both featuring [Philip Nathan](file:///blog/philip-nathan/)'s now instantly recognisable standing [Britannia](file:///blog/britannia-on-coins/) design, which remains a feature of the Britannia range. On these coins its paired with [Raphael Maklouf](file:///blog/raphael-maklouf/)'s portrait of [Queen Elizabeth II](file:///buy-coins/elizabeth-ii/). - Both struck in solid 22-carat (91.67%) fine gold with a premium [proof finish](file:///buy-coins/proof/) - Part of the landmark first issue of Britannias in 1987, supplied in the original case with COA - 11,100 sets reported to have been issued, but experience suggests they are much scarcer
