### **$10 Gold Eagle Liberty Head - Ex Jewelry (Random Year)** **PLEASE NOTE THAT THE COIN MAY EXHIBIT SCRATCHES, NICKS, OR OTHER ABRASIONS.** The **$10 Gold Eagle Liberty Head** was produced by the [**US Mint**](https://www.usmint.gov/) from 1838-1907. These fall in the list of [**Pre-1933 US Gold Coins**](file:///buy-gold/us-gold-coins/pre-1933)**.** These coins were struck with .900 purity and their size and design might vary from one coin to the other. The coins from the year 1838 and early 1839 are noticeably different from the subsequent issues. These coins have the shoulder line of Liberty directed and placed between the twelfth and the thirteenth star. [**Gobrecht**](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christian_Gobrecht), the engraver who designed the Liberty design on the obverse of the [**Gold Eagles**](file:///buy-gold/us-gold-coins/gold-american-eagle) later on modified the bust and centered it over the date. This revamped design stayed same until the end of the Coronet series in 1907. $10 Gold Eagle was the largest gold coin to be issued under the Mint Act of 1792. These coins are available in both graded and raw form with variable size, designs, and grade options. Depending on the scarcity and the condition of these coins, they can fetch higher premiums over the spot price in comparison to a similarsized gold bullion. The Gold Eagle has a face value of $10 which was almost in line with the coin’s intrinsic value when it was first minted, but now its intrinsic value is much higher than its face value. Due to their age and significance, these coins are highly sought after by collectors and investors alike. **Coin Features:** - Contains .4838 troy oz. of .900 pure gold. - Eligible for [**Precious Metals IRA**](file:///learn/precious-metals-ira-investing). - Ex Jewelry Condition. - **Obverse:** A design by Christian Gobrecht features a leftward facing Liberty head with her hair tied in a bun and secured with beaded strings and wearing a coronet on her head with “LIBERTY” inscribed on it. Encircled by 13 stars to represent 13 original colonies of US. At the bottom is year of mintage. - **Reverse:** Features a heraldic eagle with a shield on its breast and holding olive branches and arrows in its talons, design inspired from the [**Great Seal of United States**](https://diplomacy.state.gov/the-great-seal/). “IN GOD WE TRUST” banner above the eagle. Inscriptions – “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” and “TEN D.” - Individual coins will be shipped in protective plastic flips. Multiples of 20 will be shipped in plastic tubes. - Dates will be chosen randomly and are determined by our available inventory on hand. - U.S. Mint issue from the following mints: [**Philadelphia**](https://www.usmint.gov/about/tours-and-locations/philadelphia), [**Denver**](https://www.usmint.gov/about/tours-and-locations/denver), [**Carson City**](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carson_City_Mint), [**San Francisco**](https://www.usmint.gov/about/tours-and-locations/san-francisco), or [**New Orleans**](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Orleans_Mint). **Gold Eagles** can be a really great way to diversify your investment portfolio considering the fact that gold as a commodity has stood the test of time for holding its value. Rare coins like these also have collectors’ value to them besides the bullion value. Also, it is quite easy to store considering its small size. You can also check out other **Pre-1933 gold coins** that possess numismatic value. **More items like this:** - **[$10 Liberty Head Gold Eagle PCGS AU 53 (Random Year)](file:///10-liberty-head-gold-eagle-pcgs-au-53-random-year)** - **[2021 1 oz Silver Myths & Legends Dragon BU Australian Perth Mint](file:///2021-1-oz-silver-myths-legends-dragon-bu-australian-perth-mint)** - **[2025 1 oz Silver American Eagle $1 Coin BU](file:///2025-1-oz-silver-american-eagle-1-coin-bu)**
