Proof Gold £5 Crown – Entente Cordiale 2004
Description This proof gold £5 Crown, marks the 100th Anniversary of the Entente Cordiale. Entente Cordiale (April 8, 1904), which translates to ‘friendly understanding’, was a series of agreements signed between Great Britain and France, that settled a number of controversial matters and paved the way for a closer relationship between them. This put an end to almost a thousand years of conflict. The reverse of the coin features the date 1904 and 2004, along with the female personifications of both nations, the iconic Britannia and her trident and Marianne wearing the Phrygian cap, which is a symbol of freedom. The obverse of the coin features Ian Rank-Broadley’s portrait of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth. The coin comes in a plastic capsule along with an original Royal Mint box and certificate of authenticity. These coins benefit from being Capital Gains Tax (CGT) free. All UK gold and silver bullion coins manufactured by the Royal Mint are legal tender and are exempt from Capital Gains Tax.
