This set was issued to mark the 25th anniversary of the United Kingdom’s entry into the European Economic Community (ECC). John Mills design features the twelve stars of the EU, arranged in a celebratory pattern fanning out from the ‘EU’ initials. The coin also features the dated 1973 and 1998. The obverse features Ian Rank-Broadley’s portrait of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. This 50p has a weight of 15.5g (0.46 t/oz).The second 50p features Mary Milner Dickens design, a table top viewed from above, around the table are twelve chairs. On top of the table are also 12 stars, which represents the twelve members of the EU, these stars are linked with lines to represent the links of commerce and trade. The obverse features Raphael Maklouf’s portrait of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. This 50p has a weight of 26.32g (0.7751 t/oz). Both coins come in plastic capsules with original Royal Mint boxes, each coin has a certificate of aunthencity and informative booklet.
