Description This Proof 50p gold coin, dated 1998, was minted in celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the NHS. On 5th July 1948 the Minister of Health successfully steered the NHS Bill through parliament. The NHS is a publicly-funded healthcare system and was designed to provide medical treatment for all according to need, rather than the ability to pay. Fifty years on and the NHS continues to develop. The obverse features Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The reverse of the coin features ‘FIFTIETH ANNIVERSARY’ above hands, surrounded by the NHS logo. This coin comes with original Royal Mint black box and certificate of aunthencity.
