Proof Gold £5 – London 2012 Olympic
Description This proof £5 gold coin, dated 2012, commemorates the iconic London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The coin was designed by 24-year-old architectural student Saiman Miah. It features the London 2012 emblem, filled in colour with the Union Jack, along with London’s iconic skyline and Olympic pictograms. The pictograms symbolise the different sports as well as representing pride and the values they stand for. The pictograms are arranged around the edge of the coin, like numbers on a clock face, a reference to London’s iconic Big Ben. The obverse of the coin features Ian Rank-Broadley’s portrait of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. This Olympic £5 comes in a plastic capsule along with original Royal Mint boxes and certificate of authenticity. These coins benefit from being Capital Gains Tax (CGT) free. All UK gold and silver bullion coins manufactured by the Royal Mint are legal tender and are exempt from Capital Gains Tax.
