Proof Gold £5 – Coronation Jubilee 2003
Description This proof £5 gold coin, dated 2003, marks the 50th Anniversary of the coronation of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Designed by Tom Phillips, we see a new unique design to both sides of the coin. This was a deliberate change from the distinct designs and traditional portraits that we would normally see on a Quintuple Sovereign. The obverse features a line drawn portrait of an iconic side view of young Elizabeth in 1953, on her way to the opening of the Houses of Parliament. Handwritten inscription surrounds her. The reverse of the coin features the same handwritten style, a textual motif that reads ‘GOD SAVE THE QUEEN’ along with ‘2003 CORONATION JUBILEE’. These coins have a limited mintage of 3000. This 2003 £5 comes in a plastic capsule, along with original Royal Mint boxes, certificate of authenticity and informative booklet. These coins benefit from being Capital Gains Tax (CGT) free. All UK gold and silver bullion coins manufactured by the Royal Mint are legal tender and are exempt from Capital Gains Tax.
