Description One ounce silver Eagle Type 2 coins are minted by The United States Mint. Since 2021, a “Type 2” coin was released to mark the 35^th^ Anniversary of the Silver Eagle, updating the iconic coin to a special design featuring a close up of the Bald Eagle. This is the first re-design since 1986 and going forward this will be the design featured on American Eagle coins. Each one ounce Silver Eagle is imprinted with a “face value”; this coin is set at $1, although its value is of course based on the market price of its metal content.
