Description One Ounce Silver Britannia 1987-2012 are preowned coins from the Royal Mint. The first one ounce silver Britannia was minted in 1997, with a face value of £100. Pre-2013 Britannias are 0.958 fine and contain one troy ounce of silver. In 2013 the Royal Mint decided to produce the 1oz silver Britannia in 0.999. These were issued for the first time as a bullion coin in 2014. The actual silver content of pre-2013 silver Britannias remains the same however.
