Description One ounce gold Eagle Type 2 coins are minted by The United States Mint. These coins are minted in 22ct and also come in smaller denominations including, half, quarter and one tenth ounce. These coins have been produced since 1985. In 2021, a “type 2” coin was released to mark the 35^th^ Anniversary of the Gold Eagle, updating the iconic coin to a special design featuring a close up of the Bald Eagle. This is the first re-design since 1986. This going forward will be the design featured on American Eagle coins. The obverse of the One Ounce Gold Eagle Type 2 coin features Lady Liberty holding a torch and olive branch. These coins are preowned, please contact us to find out what years we have available.
