One Ounce Gold Eagle Type 1
Description One ounce gold Eagle coins are minted by The United States Mint. These coins are minted in 22ct and also come in smaller denominations including, half, quarter and one tenth ounce. These coins have been produced since 1985, eagles minted in the timeframe of 1986 to 1991 display the date in Roman Numerals, from 1992 onwards all dates go back to the original format. The one ounce gold eagle does not have an annually changing design, however in 2021 a [Type 2 design](https://www.atsbullion.com/product/gold-eagle-1oz-type-2-mixed-dates/) was released to mark the 35^th^ Anniversary of the Eagle. The obverse of the coin features Lady Liberty holding a torch and olive branch and the reverse of the coin features the iconic eagle carrying an olive branch and protecting a nest.
