Description One Ounce Gold Australian Dragon and the Phoenix, dated 2018, from the Perth Mint’s Chinese Myths and Legends series. This was the first issue in the series, followed by: 2019 Dragon and Tiger, 2020 Double Dragon, 2021/2022/2023 Dragon, 2024 Dragon and Koi and 2025 Four Guardians. The reverse of the coin features the finely detailed Dragon and Phoenix, surrounding a flaming pearl and clouds. The Dragon is seeking the prized treasure, with an open mouth. In Chinese mythology, the Dragon represents success and symbolises courage and confidence. The Phoenix symbolises prosperity and virtue and is often paired with the Dragon to signify harmony and balance. To the right of the pair, is the Perth Mint’s **P** mint mark. The obverse of the coin features Ian Rank-Broadley’s portrait of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The coins have a face value of 100 Australian Dollars. This design was limited to 5,000 coins.
