Mexican 50 Peso
Description The Mexican 50 Peso coin is a large and very interesting gold bullion coin. On the obverse, a portrait of the Winged Victory (El Angel) is featured alongside the year 1821, marking the first year of Mexico’s independence. The reverse features the Mexican coat of arms, with an eagle holding a serpent in its beak while perched atop a cactus. The coins were minted between 1921 and 1947; however more coins were restruck between the years 1949 – 1972 and dated 1947. The Mexican 50 peso is one of very few gold coins larger than an ounce in weight. Its pure weight is 1.2057 troy oz or 37.5g. This unusual weight is listed on the reverse of the coin itself (37.5g Oro Puro). As a larger bullion coin that has been in circulation for over 100 years. These coins are preowned.
