Description Memorial Charles III Double Sovereign, or £2, are dated 2022 and have been released as a special edition bullion coin to commemorate the celebrated reign of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. A £2 or a double sovereign, is twice the weight of a ‘full sovereign’. It features the first portrait of His Majesty King Charles III and is the first official gold coin to feature the new monarch’s effigy. The reverse of the memorial double sovereign displays a new, one-off, highly detailed coat of arms, replacing Pistrucci’s classic portrayal of St. George slaying the dragon. These coins benefit from being Capital Gains Tax (CGT) free. All UK gold and silver bullion coins manufactured by the Royal Mint are legal tender and are exempt from Capital Gains Tax.
