Liechtenstein 50 Franken
Description Liechtenstein 50 Franken (50 Francs), dated 1956, were produced by the Bern Mint, Switzerland. Liechtenstein can be located in the the Central European Alps. The obverse of the coin features the busts of Franz Josef II and Princess Gina. Franz Joseph II was the reigning Prince from July 1938, until his death in November 1989. He built Liechtenstein into one of the wealthiest countries in Europe during his reign. In early 1942 Franz Josef II and Princess Gina met and in March 1943, they married. It was the first time that the wedding of a ruling Prince had taken place in Liechtenstein. The reverse of the coin features a crowned Coat of Arms and the surrounding inscription reads ‘FÜRSTENTUM LIECHTENSTEIN’ which translates to ‘Principality of Liechtenstein’. These coins are preowned.
