These half ounce gold Australian lunar coins are a mixture of years and designs and were first minted in 2004 with the Year of the Monkey coin. They are half an ounce of 24ct and have an annually changing design. The three series of Lunar coins from the Perth Mint started with the Year of the Rat in 1996 and have been issued since. The first series ranged from 1996 to 2007, the second from 2008 to 2019 and the third from 2020 onwards.
