Description Elizabeth II Pre-decimal Sovereign coins were minted between the years of 1957 and 1968. The coins feature a portrait of the young Queen, aged just 26 at her accession. The reverse displays Benedetto Pistrucci’s design of St. George and the Dragon. Elizabeth II Pre-decimal Gold Sovereign coins are minted in 22ct gold and have been so since the original “modern” design was issued in 1817. These coins benefit from being Capital Gains Tax (CGT) free. All UK gold and silver bullion coins manufactured by the Royal Mint are legal tender and are exempt from Capital Gains Tax.
