Description Elizabeth II Double Sovereign 2022 had a change of design to celebrate Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee. 70 years on from her accession to the throne in 1952, the Royal Mint have issued a Royal Coat of Arms design instead of the classic St. George and Dragon design which features on the majority of sovereigns. The double sovereign was re-released as a bullion coin in 2020 and has been issued every year since. Previous “limited edition” designs of the classic Sovereign are always popular and the Elizabeth II Double Sovereign 2022 became the last sovereign design that she featured on. These coins are minted in 22ct gold and have been so since the original “modern” design was issued in 1817. These coins are preowned. These coins benefit from being Capital Gains Tax (CGT) free. All UK gold and silver bullion coins manufactured by the Royal Mint are legal tender and are exempt from Capital Gains Tax.
